The last month has seen a mixed bag of surf on the Goldie. With mid winter getting closer and closer the morning offshore winds have been getting crisper too. There’s just something about winter that feels so good. I’m really looking forward to the first good winter swell. Here are a few shot from the past month.

Le ZARBI TOUR, l'événement le plus déjanté jamais organisé, est reparti !
Au programme cette année : une étape snow, les 13 et14 Mars à Gourette [64] ; une étape skate au park Alai de Biarritz [64], les 17 et 18 Avril ; une étape de kayak freestyle à St Pé de Bigorre [65] les 8 et 9 Mai ; une étape de surf sur la plage de la Milady à Biarritz [64] + 1 étape bonus de mountainboard sur les 4 et 5 Septembre sur le mountain park de Payolle [65].
Trois soirées à thèmes seront organisées dans quelques uns des meilleurs bars des Pyrénées Atlantiques + une soirée de clôture au gaztetxe de Biarritz avec le DJ electro/metal espagnol IKKI.

Hello all!

My weekend started really nicely! winning my way through to the semi Finals of the Toyota Burleigh Classic with fun little 3 footers running down the rocky at Burleigh Point. With about 10 minutes remaining in my semi needing only a 6.33 i took off on what was the bomb of the heat, only to get fully faded by some absolute gumby who i ran over dinged my board and ended up on the rocks! Stoked! did not break for the rest of the heat…

Leaving the Beach straight away in a hurry to get to Suncorp Stadium to watch the all important Cronulla Sharks VS Brisbane Broncos. Sitting next to my brother with our brand new sharkies jerseys surrounded by drunken Broncos supporters we watch our team get smashed 44 to 16..Should of heard the criticism we copped!!! That’s alright the Sharkies with be back..

Some of the boys are stuck in Scotland bot being able to fly out because of all the Volcanic movement in iceland and its snowing..Have fun boys…

Off to the US of A for Trestles in about 10 days..stay tuned!

Ross Takes Top Honours in ASP WQS 4-Star Ocean & Earth Pro in Gran Canaria

El Confital, Gran Canaria – Daniel Ross (Yamba, AUS), 25, won the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 4-Star Ocean & Earth Pro pres. by La Caja de Canarias in pumping five to six foot (1.5 to 2 meter) waves at the world famous venue of El Confital today.

Ross, who defeated Stuart Kennedy (Lennox Head, AUS), 18, in an exciting 100% Australian 35-minute Man-on-man clash, rose throughout the week with excellent skills and variety in his surfing to end up 1st of the 2008 edition and clinch the valuable 1500 winner's ratings' points.

Macca remporte l'ASP WQS 6* Buondi Pro au Portugal

Une semaine après son séjour en France et sa bonne perf' lors du rip curl pro Hossegor, le rider de Cronulla Phil “Macca” MacDonald vient de remporter ce week end l’épreuve ASP WQS 6* Buondi Billabong Pro.

Dans des conditions très petites (environ 50 cm), le puissant surfer de Cronulla, big wave rider mondialement reconnu, s’est brillement imposé en finale contre le Californien Patrick Gudauskas.

« J’ai souvent été deuxième dans ma carrière et gagner un si gros événement est simplement fantastique » explique Macca. « C’est peut être l’une des conditions de surf les plus petites en compétition mais une victoire reste une victoire. Malgré mon gabarit, j’ai su trouvé des vagues à potentiel toute la semaine pour remporter cette compétition. »

Après ce succès, l’ancien numéro 5 mondial du World Tour passe de la 31ème à la 14ème place du classement ASP WQS et devient l’un des prétendants les plus sérieux à la requalification pour l’ASP World Tour.
